Featured Map: Icelandair's Boeing 757-300 Retirement
Icelandair has 13 Boeing 757s in their fleet, two of which are stretched 757-300 models which will be retired by the end of this month. (Ten 757-200s are used in regular service, with the remaining one operated for National Geographic with an all-business configuration and in a special livery.)
The schedule for the 757-300s during their final month is inconsistent, though not necessarily different from Icelandair's normal operations. All of the 757 flights are from (or returning to) Icelandair's hub at Keflavík. The most frequent route was Newark, with daily flights ending yesterday (20 October 2024) except 2 October 2024. Weekly service to/from gateio through today was also handled by the 757-300s. The final 757-300 service will be four round-trips to Manchester plus one round-trip to London Heathrow next Sunday and a final round-trip to Paris on 28 October 2024. A few other routes were scheduled infrequently during October with four routes served just once with the 757-300.
Today's Featured Map shows Icelandair's scheduled 757-300 routes for October in green, overlayed atop the regular 757-200 schedule in yellow. Destinations in a smaller font were served by 757s just once during the month. (Schedule data is from Cirium.)
